You can argue all you want, but the fact is that the car was designed to be swapped with the DME harness on the motor.
Try it, you will like it.

I don't know, 2 connections vs 20. Fishing the injector harness through the manifold is a pita with the engine in the car.Leave a comment:

don't forget the ground strap to the oil pan/block on the underside of the engine. that's an easy one to miss and you'll be scratching your head when you start lifting the engine with a cherry picker and the whole body starts to lift off the ground..Leave a comment:

That's what I've heard. I want to learn first cause I have never done an engine swap. There's to many things for me to over look/forget. I don't want it to get messed up, I just want my perfect running alpine motor back. :) Hopefully. everything will go smooth. I will learn what I need to do for next time, so that I won't be needing any help. Thanks for help everyone.ill actually be putting a M20 in today or tomm. Depending on whether or not i can find a truck.
This sounds lame. But swapping engine(m20) is like riding a bike. once you learn its easy as pie.
You create a checklist in your brain after a few swaps....guibo,shifter,motormounts,wiring,exhaust, radiator,etc.........Leave a comment:

You can do it either way, depending on how much wiring you want to do when the engine goes back in.Leave a comment:

why is everyone saying to remove the dme harness from the glovebox? I pulled mine without doing that, just unplugged everything and left the harness in the car.Leave a comment:

put a piece of plywood in front of the AC condenser, use some screws through existing holes and put a 2x4 on top of the radiator support so you don't bend up either of those.Leave a comment:

It helps alot if you take the hood and the radiator out , then spoon it out with the tranny attatched for sure.Leave a comment:

it's really very straightforward, and much simpler if you remove the transmission along with the motor. i even left the fan on mine when i pulled it all. disconnect all of the obvious big components, disconnect the DME from behind the glovebox and pull it through the firewall, o2 sensor, shifter components, fuel lines etc etc.Leave a comment:
