e to i motronic swap need help.

Finally got around to swapping the i ecu. harness and sensors onto my 2.7 with cam and springs. Gauges don't work. do i need a i gauge cluster wiring harness? ive read all the threads about the swap and i don't remember this being mentioned.

do you have an "e" converting it to "i"??
What did you have to change?? only the cylinder head of the "i" and the electric system?

ill really apreciate your answer. Thanks

He said cam, springs, and sensors. Here's a good article on a good site http://www.strictlyeta.net/technical/328i_1.html
Search 2.7 stroker and motronic upgrade. Or this thread: http://r3vlimited.com/board/showthre...ronic+up-grade

I've only read about having to jump a wire from the ECU to the tach, but they do say you need to upgrade to a 7k tach. Maybe they mean to swap the whole cluster. I haven't read of any other issues either. I'm about to do this swap in about a week. Hope you get it sorted.

I already have a 7k tach that was swapped in and working.

There are wires under the dash that connected to the old harness but the new harness has a different plug and different colored wires. Does anyone know about this. I guess that they go to the gauges because there is no other wiring going from the harness toward the gauges.

If anyone could post up a pic of their installed ecu and wires underneath dash by the ecu that would be helpful. Also a close up pic ofthe engine bay on drivers side with air box removed. It seems the new harness is short 1 wire to go to the TPS or the ICV.

Sorry, I don't have any answers for you. Did you swap the whole cluster or just the tach? Does that make any difference? Is there anyone out there who has done this?

Sorry i forgot to post, fixed this a few days ago, just had to jump tach wire from the c104 plug to the tach wire lead from the cluster under the dash.
