    idle @ 4k?

ok, today i decided to take the e30 to work. drove fine, went to lunch fine. But.....after work when i fired it up, it went right to 4200rpm and stayed there. it does not seem to be a cable issue, thought it could be cruse control, but mine does not work in any fasion.

Is this a common issue? car is a stockish 88 325is if that helps. I did a quick search and am starting to look throught the bentley for any ideas.

    Thanks for your help

Holy shit. Gotta be a cable, throttle body/plate, or air leak issue, the ICV won't let enough air through to run at 4200rpm!

Sounds like a stuck throttle cable to me.. maybe something jammed up your throttle body?

the cable has a small amount of slack and it feel like the plate is closeing all the way. I just got it home and will be removing the intake pipeing shortley to check

it was the icv. I used the time proven method of unplugging thigs until it got worse or better. Im going to give cleaning it a shot before replaceing
