starting problems

i have a 1986 235es and latley it wont start with the key. but it will every now and then. when i turn the key the power comes on but the engine dosent make any noise. i wasnt sure if it was the started or not just beacause it will start with the key sometimes. it runs fine once i pop start it but its just a pain. Any help?

That could be the starter, the ignition switch or the wiring between same. A bit of work with a voltmeter or test ligh should reveal which is to blame.
