    Coolant Leak--Center of Engine

Well, I know I don't post here much, but you guys are definitely profis.

Anyway, there is a coolant leak coming from the center of the engine in the front, and my guess is the water pump. The car doesn't make its usual whirring sound when it runs, rather a loud squeak that relates to the speed of the engine (as if a bearing in the pump housing has blown) that comes from where the water pump would be.

Am I going to be doing a six hour repair job this Sunday?
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
    Mark: "You never will."

If you keep driving it like that, you may end up with more than a Sunday repair job.

It shouldn't take you more than a couple of hours to do it. It is easier if you remove the hood and radiator. The toughest part of the job may be removing the clutch fan, unless you have the special tool from BMW for it.

All you need is a 32mm combo wrench or an 1-1/4'', If you can't find the metric one.

nah, I meant the one that holds the pulley in place. (And a lot of the 32 mm wrenches out there are too thick to work well.)

I most certainly have not been driving it! I've been having to bum rides and ride the bus.

Anyway, I was just trying to get a couple of other opinions (thanks, by the way) making sure that it was, in fact, the water pump. It's not like I've never done a timing belt before...

          Time for some bavauto action...
