    motronic 1.3 upgrade

I have a 525e UK spec which has it engine out at the moment and is getting a 731 cylinder head, 2.5 manifold and injectors, motronic 1.1/1.3 wiring harness and the 173 ecu. Plus all the other M20B25 bits like AFM, idle control valve.....

Now I found the motronic 1.3 upgrade thread and it had a lovely diagram on it showing the C101 connector for post 1986 325e i.e motronic 1.1/1.3 and pre 1985 325e using the rectangular connector. This rectangular connector will be the same as I have in a 1986 525e which was the 528e over where you lot are, right? Therfore I using this just match the wires up and it will work with the right chip in the ECU of course?

    thanks for reading.

If you are going ahead with the hybrid 2.7i then you don't need the 1.3 upgrade. Just use the i ecu and that's as upgraded as you're going to get. And why don't you use the 885 casting head rather than the 731? The 885 i head is far superior in more ways than one.

ive read somewhere that the 885 heads ports are too large for a n/a m20 motor. and on the non super eta block the 885 would lower the compression a good deal. where as the 731 head has smaller port with less turblence, and would be a better match for non super eta pistons. but on the other hand the the 731 head does run off of l jetronic with the distributor not on the head.

May I ask what camshaft you are running? I'm hoping to build the same exact engine for my future e30.

The camshaft that coes with the 731 heas which as 264 degree duration ans 6.8 mm lift I believe.

A 731 head matches the pistons in my eta I also have two of them therefore I have a spare.
