    e30 325e flywheel problem

Will a flywheel from a manual eta work in an auto eta ?

Or even better ,is there some way to fix the PIN for the sensor on the flywheel if it has been partially sheered off .It is not close enough to the sensor to provide a strong enough signal to the ecu.

    Thanks in advance,

    Tom

Well i haven't actually seen these but I wil throw this in. A manual has a fly wheel that has mass to carry inertia as well as a surface for the clutch.
Auto's has a flex plate that the torque converter bolts on to and has teeth on it for the starter. The only thing it does is connect the trans to the engine and has teeth for the starter to engage on. Autos also have a vibration damper on the from of the crank which is a mass that holds inertia.
    So I say no.

      ^ haha good assumption . :p

OP if you are sure that is the problem ....whynot shave/grind down the boss n the bellhousing where the sensor sits so it is actually closer to the pick-ups on the flex-plate ?

Would be easy to do or at least try as you won't need to drop the trans .

        No!

If the timing slug has been damaged the flywheel requires replacement. I'm not sure how one could do that, and not cause a lot of other damage, but...

Are you sure that the slug has been damaged? Could it be that you have a dead sensor?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
