    idle issue when warm?

picked up a new car today and had a weird idle issue...when the car is cold it idles fine...but when its in either park or neutral when warm the idle is high? when in drive or reverse it seems normal...its late so i didn't really have time to play with anything, but do you guys have any ideas?

What rpm is it idling at? It isn't unusual for the engine to idle slightly higher (50-100rpm) when in Park or neutral as there is then no load on the engine. But if it is significantly higher than that, there could be intake leaks, the ICV could be sticking, the TPS bad or misadjusted, or the throttle stop misadjusted.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

the tach isn't functioning on the car so I can't tell you exactly what the rpms are but I can tell you it's definately way more than 50-100rpms. I'm going to swap in a working tach tonight and get some numbers. Also when it's idling that high I can see the temp start to rise. But in either drive or reverse the car acts normal.
