Oil cooler line hose pressure and order

One of mine is leaking and I was wondering if I could replace the hose portion and use 2 clamps instead of buying a new OEM one. Has anyone done this?

Also, is this the correct order?? Mine are reversed on my 1/89 325is.

    WTF...

the answer is yes, but make sure you make ithe connection area very clean and clamp it down very tight. it will seal just fine. I have done it. It is like that on my car for 2 years and no leak.

Most decent sized cities will have a shop the that can rebuild those lines. The cost usually isn't much and the result is more secure than trying to use clamps.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks, I'm going to try a place tomorrow...if they're open.

I'd hate to have to blow $200 of mod money on new OEM hoses.

This is what I'm talking about...is the order of the hoses incorrect?

It really doesn't matter which way the hoses are connected, but that looks right.

              Well...

Went to the Parker Store today...no dice. They don't have the right parts to crimp on the correct furrule (the crimped piece). Nor do they have the ferrules. They said their normal parts are "one piece" meaning the ferrule is part of the end fitting.

The Parker Store has been the only place I've found locally that can make a variety of hoses...but not these.

Anyone in the NJ/PA/NY area know of a place that has the ferrules, dies and crimper that crimps these kind of hoses??

Dang, now you have me wondering.... I'm looking into modifying S14 cooler lines for my swap, and that was my plan. I have a new cooler on order, I'll have to see if they can get me an adapter to JIC or O-ring face or something.

Yea, I was pretty bummed. I'm going to keep looking around, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Hoping someone has a contact locally...

Pegasus Racing stocks a shitload of metric fitting converters to go to AN, JIC, or NPT. Their website has a pretty good search feature, too.

Any idea what style/type of fittings I should be using? Not 100% sure what they are called.

I don't know the name of them, but I do know that they use standard #-size o-rings (#10 for the oil cooler...). Maybe it's a standard metric o-ring fitting? DIN? As far as the other side, I like AN lines. No sense using JIC, as it's primarily for high-pressure hydraulic systems, all the fittings are steel and the hose is heavy and stiff.

I believe the fitting that screws into the oil cooler thermo housing is 22mm x 1.5mm. I am waiting on conformation from someone who has already done the an type conversion to see if is the proper one.

Guy over on e30tech used this setup

He said that he used a similar fitting like the one I posted with out the oring and used thread sealant on his and it worked fine.

                            like this one http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...asp?RecID=5065

My plan is the tig weld the two fittings onto the housing so I am guaranteed no leaks....
