car wont start after being away for three weeks...

    I have a problem,

I went away for three weeks and left the car parked on a hill out side my house. While I was away, it snowed here A LOT and melted by the time I got home. Now the car won’t start. The car is very cold and there seems to be a lot of condensation in the engine bay and some in the cab.

The radio, turn signals, center console lights, and head lights all work in the auxiliary position of the ignition. But the dash doesn’t light up, and the heater doesn’t work.

As soon as I go to start the car, everything turns off. Nothing makes a sound.

I think it may be condensation or water in some of the electricals, but if anyone else can shed some light on what is happening I would be very appreciative.

Right now I have space heaters in the cab and in the engine bay trying to dry it up.

    Thanks in advance

The battery is dead. The reason everything shuts down when you turn the key to start is because the additional load causes the battery voltage to drop too low.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

it happens even when being jumped by my girlfriend

ground from the battery is tight.

when trying to turn over the car from the aux. position, everything on the dash goes out and not a peep from under the hood.

A seriously low battery, which it sounds like you have, may require charging by the donor vehicle for 10 to 15 minutes at a fast idle before the car will start.

NEVER use the battery as a ground!!! Hook it to your bumper, ANYWHERE but the battery.

^^^ which is why pretty much every vehicle ever made has a ground wire that runs to the battery right?

              update...

so i kept the heater in the car overnight. i went outside this morning and tried to start it and nothing. did my time at work/jail and came home to find that the heater worked when i put the key into the position. so i left the heater on and went inside.

so ten minutes ago i went outside and it started right up. everything works fine.

i am going to leave the heater going on low over night again just to make sure it is cured.

i had a bad feeling about the condensation from moment one.

              thanks for all the input
