oil leak originating from the drain plug

Hey guys I have a a couple spots that seep oil on my engine but the worst is the drain plug bolt.

Last time I replaced my oil I put in a new drain plug and washer.
That did not solve the problem
I tried adding some silicone sealant on to the bolt head area of the drain plug and that did not fix it, but it did slow down the seepage.

I believe that the drain plug has been over tighten at some point in its past.

I don't want to replace the oil pan at this moment
I don't want to drop the oil pan and re thread it.
I don't want to add plumbers tape to the threads of the drain bolt to do it possibly getting into the oil pan.

I would like a macgyver fix for this problem or a little trick to fix the oil leak.
Anyone have any good ones.

get a new pan... pans are all over the place... ITs a bitch to replace, thats the only reason why I see you wouldnt want to do it. :P

JB Weld it shut and get a pump for oil changes.

You're not going to properly fix it without removing it.

The threads can be repaired without removing the pan. For this a Timesert is better than a Helicoil.

Good advice about refilling with old oil and draining again to remove any possible metal shards.

never seen those timeserts before, I like. What size is the e30 plug, 12x1.25?

i have the same problem with my car. I cracked my pan and didnt check the threads on the replacement before i installed it. I just wrap the plug threads in some plumber's tape, the white teflon stuff, and it slows it down a lot, but not completely.

Just replace the pan, I can do it in about an hour if the car is clean.

I fixed the oil leak

I added plumbers tape to the drain plug and jb welded the drain plug to the oil pan.

problem solved

at later date I will replace but right now money is tight and this worked out.
