new noise from valvetrain...

so i was driving my car pretty hard last night, and it started making a LOUD ass valvetrain noise on the way home. i took of the VC and didnt find anything broken, so im guessing its something valve/spring related. the best way i can describe it is it sounds like a rocker came loose or something. its not really a chaotic noise, its pretty repetitive and only happens above ~3k rpms. anyone have any ideas?

its a 1990 325i, if that helps.

adjust your valves, looked for cracked rockers while doing so

If you've still got the cover off, take a very close look at the inner valvesprings. It can be very hard to spot a broken one upon quick inspection. What's the mileage?
