im having to get a new motor ASAP and the only one i can find is from an 86 325e, will there be any big problems making it run and work right in my 90 325i?

Yes. You need an e transmission because of the reference sensors. And an e wiring harness (because of the reference sensors).

Either that, or you need to do an i conversion on the e motor. But that won't happen asap -- takes some time.

Try Vines Automotive in Birmingham. They are usually a good source for E30 parts.

To switch to an early M20B27 (325e), you'll need the engine, wiring harness, DME, and the early transmission with the bell housing mounted timing reference sensors. A late production M20B27 (SuperEta) would require the engine, harness (I think), and DME.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
