    Problems 325es

This weekend I bought a 1985 325es. The guy might have been a crook but who knows lol. The oil pan and pump were both removed because of a leaky oil pan gasket and apparently he decided to just go ehead and change the oil pump as well. I highly doubt that the pump still works like he said, but I'll find out soon enough.

Anyway, to my main question: I put a battery in to check out the electrical stuff to see if that worked however, only the horn, headlights, and turn signals works. The gauges, wipers, ac/heat fan, power windows/sunroof/locks, and fuel pump[can't hear it turn on] don't work. I also checked to see if it would turn over, with no intentions of starting the car, but it would not whatsoever.

This could be many things I know, but is it likely the relays are bad or the ecu? The car sat for a couple years after he parked it. Also, I didn't test the fuses, but none were blown that I could see.

I'm new as you can tell.
    Thanks in advance!

the starter needs the ground cable that connects the frame to the oil pan... which is removed

and m20 oil pumps almost never fail, just clean it and stick it back in

Awesome thanks, I wondered if that might be the cause but didn't know it was grounded to it.

Any thoughts to the other problems or will that take care of them also?

this will most likely be of little help but when I got mine a few months ago it started but like you, only a few of the electrical accessories worked.

I picked up a Bentley(GET ONE) and went through my entire fuse box, changing out mismatched and blown fuses. corrected 3 or 4 things right off the bat.

            Welcome!

Nice, I'll use my fuse tester and test all of them. It will still be a weekend or two before it's drivable though lol. It leaks brake fluid under the rear of the car like mad when you hit the brakes
