The problem isn't with the old plugs having lost a piece inside the plug wires, but rather that the new plugs still have the widget still screwed onto them. Remove those and be at peace.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Well unfortunately I ended getting one out, and it flew somewhere, and I can't get any of the new caps to snap in there.

Oh shit. You screwed up your wires. New set is in order. Yeah, that little cap on the top of the spark plugs is what needs to come off. It screws on/off.

You've just demolished your plug wire. Buy a set, remove the caps from the plugs by unscrewing them, and buy a Bentley Manual. Good luck.

EDIT: My puter took forever to post that. ^Wut he sed.

Anger is not the prescribed tool for learning how to work on E30s. It will cost you dearly. Be patient, and get a Bentley.

Well it was either the plugs, wires, or fuel filter because I did those 3 and now it runs fine. I've still got another car for 4 days, should I do anything else while I have another car?

I was thinking timing belt because I have no idea when that was done, but that's quite a bit harder (or so I've heard).

My steering also makes a loud squeal/screeching noise at full lock.
