    Could it be a SETA?

I just looked at my seta and it has small runners but does not have the hose going directly into the manifold just foreward of the throttle body, so the manifold looks like an early eta.

This place is like catholic school, 2/3 of the students smoke weed on a daily basis, but the faculty seems to convince the outside world that drugs are just in the other schools, the resident pot dealer thinks he's cool because he has the originality to call anyone he doesn't like a homosexual, and most of the little children follow him like sheep, then there's the few with brains, you hardly ever hear from them, perhaps don't even know they exist, but they get all the sh!t done.

        ECU#'s:

        Bosch 0261200153
        Motronic

This is what the cover said top of the glove box. THere was another computer looking unit under the steering wheel as well.

The numbers printed on that unit said: Bosch 0265103004. I dunno which number will help.

Also, please don't forget that the fact this motor didn't come with the outlet for an oil cooler. I have no idea if this info will help either

Lastly, where is the head casting number located? I can look down there once it gets bright outside.

THanks for all this guys. I really appreciate it

hmm... DME #153 is an "i" unit, and the electronics match, but that manifold and TB are early eta for sure, NOT s-eta.

and no ICV... hehe bet that thing idles nice in the cold

get a real "i" engine for that thing, and don't rev it past 5500 in the meantime!

One question, should I just get an ecu for a early eta motor?? Would this solve everything? Shouldn't it be just plug and play??

to solve everything you should put the right motor back in it. your car came with a 2.5 i motor and the guy put the wrong motor in it.
you also can not change the computer cause the wiring harness is different.
if you wanted to fix this right without changing the motor you could use the intake, cam, and valve springs from an i motor and you'd have a 2.7L i motor might get a lil extra power out of it
              First: 1984 318i
              Second: 1987 325
              Third: 1987 325is
              Current: 1990 325i (Soon To Be 335i)

What does the car idle like ? As far as i can tell there is no icv at all, that's fucked.

Changing motors would be a challenge for me right now. Would it be easier to just swap harnesses?? I know a place where I could locate one.

The car idles perfect when it's warm. It's when it's cold, where the problem is. But like after 30 seconds of holding the throttle open, it idles fine.

I do have a '89 325i ICV in the garage. Do you think it would hook up with the '89 325i throttle body?

yea, but you will need to use the b25i TB and manifold on the eta head

swapping harnesses is too much pain, just dont use the upper quarter of the tach

I see what you are getting at, but I believe the '87 325i should use the smaller plug, 88-up I and s-etta wiring looks similar.
Nah I was talking about the plug for the idle control valve, which should be the same 3-pin for all of the models. Just the length of wire and where it locates itself is the difference I'm thinking about.

I believe I have the manifold from the b25i manifold as well.

Yea... I think I'll drive slowly for now and later when I have more time/money, I'll swap in the proper motor.

                            Update:

I replaced the manifold with the b25 with all the accessories attached. Thanks to the gentleman who advised me to do so, I now have smooth start up and idle in the mornings. Thanks!!! I do have the CEL light on though. I dunno why??
