    what is procedure to get codes to display?

    I thought it was..

    turn key to on...
    depress accel pedal 5 x.....and voila..
    i get nada.


    oh...and where does the code display?....

    tia!

    There's a good article on Pelican parts site.

    There's a list of the codes that you have to look up. The CEL light will flash in coordinance with the code numbers.

      Second: 1987 325
      Third: 1987 325is

              Ya AllData told me.
              I love that progam
              Its the check engine light itself that flashes
              the first couple flashes dont count. then it will flash a 4 digit code with a longer pause between numbers. first 2 digits are 1 2. thats for the motronic 1.3 i think. that should be 88 and up maybe. older ones only have a limited number of codes and i think they start flashing as soon as you turn the key on

                This only works on an Motronic 1.3, which if stock means a late 88 or later. And for it to work both the idle and WOT switch of the TPS must be operative and the TPS and throttle stop must be correctly adjusted.

                The codes are displayed as flashes of the CEL.
                The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
