    Sputtering and stalling 325

Alright guys, I’m here chasing a stuttering issue on my 1988 325. Car starts up fine at times a few cranks longer than others but after a minute or two it goes into a weird sputtering effect where it’s like it is coughing and puffs Out a little bit of smoke from the exhaust. If I press the gas pedal down while it does it, it doesn’t change much. Eventually after a few stutters it dies. Does this while idling more often than driving. Today I was on the throttle driving and it completely stalled out on me.
    so far I’ve replaced:
spark plugs, fuel injectors, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, valve cover gasket, intake manifold gasket, numerous vacuum lines, oil pressure sensor, coolant temp sensors, air filter.
any ideas on what the issue could be? ICV or AFM? Would a fuel pump going out cause this? Or my DME be the issue?

thanks in advance, haven’t dug too deep into E30’s but I own an e36 M3, 325is and also a single turbo e90 335i so not too much of a newbie

Sounds like you have you're hands full with this one. Start with checking the engine ground straps, always a good place to start with strange problems. Assume its a "i" motor, check the harness plug under the intake manifold for corrosion. Have you checked the fuel pressure? Accumulated trash in the tank could be clogging the fuel pick up. Verify the throttle position sensor. Check the Air Flow Meter with a multi meter or swap in a know good one.
