I have the complete setup from an e32 that can be used for the swap, my question is what will have to be done to make this work and not send the car into limp mode when started?

EML is drive by wire no? You'll have to convert to a throttle cable and remove the EML unit IIRC. They're a PITA anyway - get sticky. Not sure what you'll need to do on the transmission side of things.
