    m30 manifold Question

m30b35 Head is getting port and polished to gasket diameters. i will be turboed though not sure what parts im going with yet.
Question is, if i decide to use 745 turbo manifold, will there be too much conflict in diameters from head to mani? Should I port that too, or just go custom?
    thanks

    two things here:
1.) if you were to use the 745i manifold, I would port match it. You would be restricting flow if you didn't

2.) if custom is an option, do it. With the 745i turbo kit, you have limited mobility. You can only use the k27 turbo they came with. If you want more power, the turbo will need to be rebuilt. They are going for over $1000. If you go the custom route, you have freedom to choose any turbo you want. As well as any waste gate you want. The 745i turbo setup uses components specific to that model and cannot be interchanged with a more common manufacturer.

thanks! that was my next question (turbos other than the k27).

Can anyone help give some info on different turbos being used on their M30? Not alot of the turbo guys list there turbo make, size, AR, etc.
-i wish to run 10-12psi, maybe a little higher.
-im on a very mild 172 IE cam
      -IE double valve springs
-Late 70's M10 head studs (much stronger, not stretched)
-all new gaskets of course, IE custom head gasket
      -want 350hp+ at the wheels
This is for a track car/garage whore, i usually dont ever drive my track cars on the street, unless going to a shop or tuning

A small version of the HX35 would be what you want. I think Pullerexpress or pullerpower or something liek that has them new for $450.

a good site to check out for turbo m30's is mye28.com

Big Bronze Rim has a good write up over there. These engines are big. They can handle the larger turbos such as the hx40.

An HX40 is probably oversized for his goals. What he really needs to do is learn to read compressor maps.

yeah this will be my first turbo setup. aside from f'ing around with my old FC Turbo II, I havent had any hands on experience. I have visited mye28 a couple times. I will look for Big Bronze Rim.
                Thanks for the help guys
