    IE Trans Bushings

Hey guys I'm trying to use the IE transmission bushings and I'm running into a little problem. The bushings I took off are hourglass shape so they bend to the correct angle to bolt on to the slots on the transmission. The IE bushings are solid urethane and don't flex at all. I was wondering what you guys that are running this setup do to get all of your transmission bracket holes to line up correctly. Do you just cram it and then tighten it down or did everyone use the stock transmission mounts? Thanks.

Actually I just found the exact picture to explain this while browsing around (this is not my car):

The attachment points on the transmission on my car are flat instead of being angled up, the transmission bracket pictured is the same one I'm trying to use. My setup is a m30b34 from an e28 and the same transmission. I'm wondering if I have a different transmission than I thought or if I'm just missing something.

So your cross member is different?
      I don't quite get what you're saying.
      Use the e30 m20 one.

If you have a 260/6, then it should just button up.
You might be doing it wrong. :P

I'm not so sure that I have a 260 now. The production date on my e28 is 07/1985. That transmission bracket in the picture is the exact bracket that I'm trying to use but the problem is that it angles the bushings in (like in the picture) but the mounting locations on my transmission are not angled like the picture. They are exactly perpendicular to the transmission case. Screw it this too difficult to explain ... I'll snap a picture next time I go over there.

Actually I found it ... my transmission looks like this:

So I'm thinking that my transmission is actually a Getrag 265. Would that make sense considering my car is 07/85 production date? I'm still not 100% on my year to year differences.

Follow up question: Has anyone used poly transmission mounts with a G265? If so what bracket did you use?

          I'm 100 % sure you might have G 265 there.

          All 1985 : 535i, 635csi, 735i have G 265.

Well that answers that question, thanks! Now back to my last question:

You use the S14 (m3) cross member.

Yeah I saw that, I guess I wasn't clear enough. Has anyone used poly mounts with the m3 bracket. It looks like that bracket tilts in a bit as well and I just wanted to see if anyone else has gone this route before I start experimenting. I'm to the point now where I'm just willing to do it and sort out any issues later but I figured getting some feedback wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hehehe, those photo's are from my swap thread!

That crossmember is the e24 635Csi pressed steel one that had to be slightly modified on the left side and the mounting holes (that bolt to the car) had to be elongated alittle to fit.

That transmission is indeed the Getrag 265.

My original e30 mounts worked great with this crossmember so I think it's safe to say that the poly mounts will work fine too!

Yeah, I'm probably just over thinking this. I've been really stressed out lately,
