    Tach checklist

Alright, I have one weekend to get the tach to start working before I don't see the car for 1 1/2...unless I get it transported down to TX.

The tach doesn't work and I need help to see what I can do to get it going.

    Just a reminder....This is a 318 that has an M30 in it.

So could someone help me, pictures (I'm a visual guy), write-up, checklist of what I need to do, make sure of, and double check to see why and what I need to fix so that the tach works?

Do I need to change these? Both, I was told, work fine but it hasn't solved my tach problem. Do they have anything to do with the tach? I ask because I believe I remember reading it did.

Also, on a side note, my speedo doesn't work. Might be a stupid question but where is the speed sensor for the car originally? Is it the sensor in the dif.? How might I get that working with the ole' m30?

    Thanks
    DJ

The sensor pictured is the crank angle position sensor - the speed sensor is on the diff cover.

Cant remember what the tach wire color is...

Stupid question...do I even the crank angle sensor? The motor works just fine without it connected to anything. I have the wiring diagram but is there something special I need to do to wire the 318 speed sensor up to the m30 back to the 318 cluster or does the speed sensor have nothing to do with the motor?

I was thinking it didn't matter what motor it had in it because it was sensing the diff not the motor.

If your car is pre '88, Connect the black wire from the c104 connection in your glove box to pin #9 of the C101 connector in your engine compartment.

If your engine is a B34 that is a diagnostic sensor that does nothing.
