    rough running issue...

i just finished putting a refinished head, with all new rockers, valve seals and a b35 cam on my b34. The cap got cracked on install and the rotor was a little chipped. Stupid mistake from rushing.

here is my issue, on first start it was fine, ran great until i would stop shut it down and start it again. After that it would run like shit, like it only had 3 cylinders until my foot was on the floor, then it would haul ass like a bat outta hell... this was occasional and would go away and while the cracked cap and rotor were still in. Then yesterday i stopped and started it again and the issue has been constant since... cammed b34 in the rain with 3.73lsd only able to run at full throttle is well... interesting.

so today i swapped out the cap and rotor - nothing
found a vaccuum leak - nothing
    swapped the ecu - nothing
unplugged the o2 sensor - nothing
pulled plug one and it looks ok, no oil, no gas
moved a ground to a better location - nothing

so what do you all think???? it ran fine before i busted a rocker, which is why i refinished the head, when doing the head gasket the only things that changed were the damaged cap and rotor and i had to move a ground...

le me know what you all think
    TIA
    Rob

the only thing I can think of is the throttle position sensor. Try adjusting it?

does the b35 head give you higher compression? I'm not familiar with this head swap.

thats the only thing i havent touched yet...

i did just switch the MAF thought it worked... then no...

and i didnt swap a b35 head, that would actually lower the compression and is only really good for boost. I just swapped in a b35 cam and it made things so much smoother when its running right. Gonna go adjust the TPS now

Stupid question, but have you rechecked the plug wires and made
          100% sure they're correct?

Does it sound like shit, or just doesn't want to run?

Plug connections to injectors tight? Have you had the injectors serviced? fuel filter? This sounds like an electrical problem to me though.

would and electrical problem allow me to run great at full throttle??? but not at anything less?

I believe so - Be it an afm, idle control valve, injector etc..

ok ok i thought you were saying wiring wise

i agree i really think its one of those things, im gonna switch out the ICV tomorrow, and maybe pull the injectors if it really comes down to it. its just so wierd cause it ran fine before the head swap, ran pretty good right after we finished the swap, and now well its pretty shitty...

just went out and changed the ICV wanted to know if it really helped so i went to pull a plug wire and got shocked alot...

think this may have something to do with the problem but my grounds look good, what couuld this be from?

                        Huh? You got shocked!?

Where is your coil - do any plug leads run near the icv?

                        Weird...

plugs wires are brand new, i fixed the ground on the head and i think that solved the getting shocked issue.

cleaned the ICV still running shitty.

if i rev the motor, then unplug the ICV nothing happens, but when i plug it back in things sound a little bit better.

You got something stuck in the intake system like a rag or something?
Forget you put a paper towel in the throttle body?

                              It happens you know.

                              Are all injectors firing?
Injectors firing at the right time?
Got the injectors pluged up in the right order?
                              Same with the spark.

                              Brake another rocker? :P
