    Engine / Tranny mounts

Is this still pretty much current? Can I use STOCK e30 325i engine/tranny mounts with g260 and b35?

"I have BMW E30 poly-urethane motor and hard rubber BMW E30 transmission mounts that are highly recommended. This eliminates a lot of the engine/tranny movement and gives you a more solid feeling when driving. Downside is it gives you a little bit more vibration transfer, but it’s really neglible. The Urethane mounts I purchased FOR AN E30 325I from www.bimmerworld.com for like $70, as well as the tranny mounts for $29. Bimmerworld takes a year and a day to ship though, so be aware. "

If you are referring to the Jared Squires write-up I believe he made his own custom mounts. So who knows what position the engine is in. I know that if you use a set of Funk's mounts you can use a "Big Guibo" 325e driveshaft with that engine / trans combo but other than that I'm not familiar with what the bolt-on configurations are.

Any E30 mounts will work (mounts here meaning the plastic dampers, not the arms, of course). I went with new stock. I would not recommend anything other than new OEM transmission mounts.

This. I went with stock as well as the urethane didn't really appeal to me since I was dding the car.

I haven't had any problems with them.

I'm running urethane mounts for the motor and trans. I don't think it's that bad of a compromise. I like feeling the engine, but it's not like rattling your teeth out. I didn't want to have to replace the bushings after a year because the torque of the engine tore them up. Personal opinion I guess.

I ended up going with IE (yellow) engine bushings and AKG trans bushings (g265). The car's not finished yet so I can't really say too much about the ride but with the clearances up front being what they are I opted for a little more stiffness in the mounts.

Yeah, I had the IE engine/tranny mounts before and they were perfect for autox but for DD I didn't like them too much... but this was on a 4 cyl... so not really apples to apples.

Yes, still running both sets. But I'll be looking for another set of engine mounts to try and lower the engine a bit (maybe 1/4" of inch".

So does that mean going to the poly mounts? Or some other mount?

Something that's "Shorter" is what I am looking for... another solution would be to lower the front subframe 1/4-1/2" with a spacer and longer bolts...

Don't do it unless you know exactly how it will effect handling.

Would only make it handle better right ? hehe.

That's my plan B, if I don't find shallow mounts.
