    E32 Downpipe/ header Q

    Hello,

Question for those of you that have used the manifold and downpipe section from an E32 on your swap. Did you use the stock heatshield on the downpipe section. It holds the two exhuast pipes together.

Reason I'm asking is that I currently have the stock heatshield still on the downpipe section and it touches the back half of the control arm (where the big bushing is). Does not seem good. I feel like if I cut the heatshield off I'd have a bit more room.

I have an 87 325is with and engine from a 91 535i and am using mounts from Funkmasta. Oh - not sure it matters but the manifolds are from the 535i (they look the same as the E32 and where already on the car) and I attached the E32 down pipe section.

    Thanks,

    Veronica

I took it off mine for clearance issues. I noticed no difference with heat in the floor area, so it's fine to do.

Cool - thanks for the reply. I think I'll cut it off in the next day or two.

      Any one else with thoughts?
