    Almost done, having spark/fuel issues!

Working on the car tonight Mattdk318i and myself are having trouble getting the engine to spark or get fuel. The fuel pump relay can be jumped and fuel is present but otherwise no go.

    Details:
Wiring harness-Original one that came with M20 in Car
    Engine- M30b34 with 1.3 conversion(toothed crank wheel and sensor/ecu from E34)

The old M20 ran great in the car before the swap. Interesting note is that we have also now lost power to the window switches and the radio.? Could this be a simple relay problem? I'm pretty sure the Ecu is good since the ICV is humming and we have 12.5 and the coil, but no spark. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Fuse problem maybe? Usually pretty simple to check.

Fuses all checked to be good, we even played musical relays to no avail.

Yeah coil has power all over it. Do you have fuel issues as well? Windows work? Wasn't your swap already complete and running well?

The window thing sounds familiar, look through these threads:

RickSloan - did you plug the TPS into the correct end on the b35 harness, try swapping it with the spark plug ID wire. If it's in the wrong end, it will not fire. Are you getting fuel?

Also, if the ecu temp sensor is bad it won't fire/run. I tried unplugging each one when I was figuring out which one goes to the cluster to figure that out.

Q-ship I followed the advice in those threads and I may have a bad unloader relay. But still no fuel or spark for the engine. We tried another ECU today to no avail. Any other suggestions?

The window/radio thing can be fixed if you run a wire from your c101 to one of the terminals on your starter. I think it's the small green wire but I'll try to find the thread where I read that.

Yeah i just read that, but would that need to be done if no wires were spliced? Pretty much we just plugged in all the connectors from the original harness. Just extended the injector wires. So technically nothing changed on the chassis wiring. Still confused on the no spark or fuel. M20 ran great.

my car was running with a b34 harnesss and now i just swapped in a b35 harness and up graded to motronic 1.3

i had the crank position sensor plugged into the wrong spot out of the two... fired up right away... check yours.

now its running but i have no tach, no temp gauge and it sounds like its idleing high...

                        Rick,

Would it be possible for me to switch the two on the stock harness. This could be the break that I'm looking for! Thanks in advance

I dunno dude, mine was spliced but into the same wires it would have been (it's a long story) and I still had to run a wire to the solenoid.
