    Whee... E34 M30 5-speed....

Well, I came across a bit of a unicorn: a lightly rolled E34 535i 5-speed ('92) with 90k miles. Needless to say, I'm going to try to snap it up.

Q: With the drivetrain going into a '90 325i, I should have everything I need except the mount brackets and exhaust, correct?
Between parting out the 5 (sport seats etc) and selling the 98k mile drivetrain from the E30, I may end up with a nearly free swap...and it'll keep me busy for the winter!

    Thoughts?

Very nice find. Get the car for less than $1k and you are golden.

The owner has had 4 offers of $500 thus far, I'm going to aim for $900 to give myself some room to go up. We'll see how it goes.

You'll need a large guibo ds from an 87 or early 88 eta. unless you want to use the front half of the e34's with the back of an e30 or whatever the combo is. I don't even know if that works.

You'll also need an e28 radiator, since I don't think the e34 one will fit.

Can't think of anything else atm.

You are going to loose the car - you have to act fast on this stuff. Go get the money in cash and knock on his door.

agreed. I paid $850 for an otherwise great condition E34 that pulled strong...with a dead battery. YMMV

Go get it! That's a perfect donor car!

                You'll still need a different driveshaft/mounts/radiator (since it's a 92, high chance it's engine harness will have a 25 pin x20)...but rest is perfect.

Well, it looks like it's mine: I went to $1000 and it includes a nearly new set of snows.
                  I pick it up tomorrow....
Plan: pull drivetrain from my wifes Texas 325i summer car and put it in my ETA. Drive exETA through the winter with "new" 98k drivetrain.
Through the winter, I hope to put M30 stuff "Tex", along with new bushings all around, E36 steering rack and perhaps GC coilovers.

                  Should be fun.

                  Thanks all.

Well, I picked it up today. I think it'll be alright. It has a MINT sport seat interior...anyone know what those seats go for?

Depends on color. Good find. Best of luck.
