7 series turbo question

Isnt there a 80's 7 series that came with an inline 6 turbo from the factory? Are the parts from that engine transferable to an m20? Would the whole block fit in the e30 with minimal modifications (hardware wise, not engine electronics)? Ive been searching but could not find this swap. Thanks.

745i and not bolt to m20. It's an m30 family engine.

There is a board that focuses on the old 745i's. I had one for a while. There is some swap info over there, and I haven't seen too many swapped to E30's, but if you did, it would be awesome. Good & Tight is selling some mount arms for M30's right now. Buy a set, see if they fit.

Is the swap similar to the m30 swaps discussed here involving non turbo m30's? I have seen the biggest issue is having motor mounts fabbed up, but even those are available custom made. I was wondering if there were problems using the stock 745i exhaust manifold in the e30? I havent seen many threads on this swap in the search feature.

The cars the M102 and M105 engines (3.2L and 3.5L turbo M30's, respectively) are rare, so that is a large factor in the rarity of a swap. The stock manifold is pretty compact, and the turbo is mounted between cyls 3 and 4, below the log-type manifold.

If you have access to an engine, see if the parts fit, if not, make them! :P
