Hello fellow swapies, I just finished my m30-b34 swap. Tranny is a Getreg 262-510.
My Indy originally installed a 4.10 and thought it drove great. I never had the chance to drive it with the 4.10 because he swapped in a 2.93 for the 200 mile trip home. Once home I put the 4.10 back in just to give me an idea as to where I wanted to go. The car didn't pull like I thought it would so I emailed my Indy and this is a what he said.......
"Okay considering the 4.10 install, I tuned the engine to work with it and retuned it to work with 2.93. The transmission is what I call "long gears" basically meaning it wasn't designed for torque. The addition of the 4.10 gives the impression of more low end torque but only when the engine is tuned to bring the power band closer to lower revs. The trans is basically a power robber in the setup but there are things you can do to get over it. The esiest adjustment would be the mass air sensor. I had set to run kinda rich because at lower RPMs it pumps so much air that it can actually lean itself out as soon as you get on the throttle. I would have liked to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to overcome that. At idle and higher rpm's it would tend to flood so ther is a very fine line of what you can do with it. Another way to get low end torque would be to open the spark plug gap a little. You pump more air and fuel into the cylinders so you increase the gap to give it a bigger spark to be able to burn the mixture.
Any input would help guys thanks in advance.
