    m42 radiator with m30

Has anyone actually tried this? The holes are in the correct places and the width doesn't seem any different. People with 24v swaps run them with no cooling problems.

It seems like a good way to clean up the bay a little more and still be able to use the m42 firewall covers.

    Too thick.
I'm using the plastic firewall cover thing with a e28
    radiator no problem.

Have you actually tried it? I'm running a e34 coolant bottle right now so the firewall covers dont fit

Try a m20 bottle. The e34 one looks ugly imo.
Haven't tried a 4cyl rad. but it's still too thick.

Or move everything back like 3 inches into the firewall like
        good&tight. :O

I have no provisions for mounting the late model m20 bottle, and the early model m20 ones are hideous. I like the e34 bottle, but I don't like how I had to cut the hood support. I want to clean up the bay a bit too.

What makes you say it's too thick? Because by my measurements the fins are exactly the same width ;)

              An update to this:

I tried it when I put my engine in. With Joe Funk's engine mounts, the alternator was about 1/4" away from one of the end caps. This was too close for my tastes, so I ended up just using the e28 one.

Joe's mounts sit pretty far forward though to avoid having to modify the firewall. If you are using any other mounts that sit the engine farther back, I'm sure this would work fine.

You can still add the late model 325i overflow tank pretty easy though ;)
