You can check the part weights from www.bmwfans.info

For example S50 crankshaft weights 5kg more than M50 crank..

                Back to the OPs question:

                Yes, it is heavier.
                Yes you can feel it.

Yes, it is abso-fucking-lutely worth it.

Drive one, you will say the same. That torquey bitch is what the E30 should have come with.

                Closing SOON!

Does it mean you spend less than $500 on your S52 swap ?
Or, taking offers on doing pink slip vs M30 ?

If you really want me to take your car Mr. E thug. No, I spent alittle more sence I wanted a almost new engine rather then reuseing something from the junk yard.

I'd like to drive a moderately-built sample of both configurations to compare. I'd love to have legendary M30 torque, but I love the M50 look. As it is now, I rarely open my hood, (greasy M20, sweet!) so driving fun means more than sitting around looking at my engine. Of course, if I had a clean M50 stuffed into the car, maybe I'd fix that annoying hood which won't stay up without aid of a stick. :D

when you get hot, roll down the windows, hit the gas, and remember why you did the swap! AC is for grandparents cars and school buses not for m30 swapped e30s. or cf hood and keep your ac, whatever.

Ottawa summers = not fucking hot.

Arizona summers = wicked fucking hot.
