I've currently got all my freeze plugs removed right now and replacements all ready to go. The only problem is (brace yourself for OCD), when installing the new ones, I put the little bit of sealent around the edge (controversial, move past it), then I use a block of wood and a hammer to get them in evenly and straight without denting/harming the rim of the plug. The wood works well up until the plug starts digging into the wood and then I have to use just the hammer. The hammer gets it fully in place, but at the cost of slightly denting/ruining the gold iridite finish on the rim of it and it bugs the crap out of me.
Does anybody have a tip/trick on installing these without harming them? (I've also tried the socket technique and that just results in a circular dent in the middle from the socket).
Also, just curious since i've already bought the steel plugs, are brass plugs readily available for the m30?
