    going from B34 to B35.....

    Ok, here's the story:
i bought a M30 swapped car with a B34 in it. It was supposed to have a cracked block, and i never verified.

I picked up a free B35 in good running condition. I pulled it apart and started resealing everything on it to get it ready to go in. When I pulled the B34 I noticed it was leaking from a freeze plug.

So now I am going to install the B35 in the car, but I want a lighter flywheel. The B34 had a E28 535 with a magnetic pick up on it. I can buy a UUC E34 M5 flywheel that is 11 lbs for cheap, but I'll need to either drill and install a pin in the flywheel, or convert to the front CPS. Can I retrofit the front CPS to be functional with the B34 electronics, or will i need to pin the flywheel?

Or would I be better off shaving the E28 535 wheel down from 22 lbs to around 17?

use everything from the b35, find electronic's from the b35, and be done with it, if you cant find them get in touch I can send you in the right direction
which head are you using by the way, us ethe b35 head , flows better, bigger valves, bigger ports, etcetc

i have the harness from the B35 that was cut at the firewall. the rest of the electroncs are gone to the junk yard from the donor car. will that work or am i screwed?
also note the b34 electronics already function and I have a chip in it as well.

      using the whole b35 motor.

since b35 is ready for motronic 1.3, that's what you should do. Use the later electronics (wiring/sensors/dme).

i'll need to get a DME, chip, and rewire the car.

let me see what i can dig up.

what are the benifits of going 1.3 vs 1.0?

i'd love to, but spending more money just to have the latest electronics, plus losing my chip in the process isn't appealing to me right now.

i think i'm just going to shave the 22lbs flywheel i have and rock it.

I guess i need to sell or trade the UUC E34 M5 flywheel i just picked up today.

You'd honestly be better off selling your dme and chip on mye28 and using the money to pick up a 179 dme. You could use either a b35 or a late e30 wiring harness too, so if you have the old harness from the car you'd save money.

If you really don't want to spend the money, then you could probably downgrade the b35 to motronic 1.0, but lord knows how it would run. IIRC a few of the sensors are different too, so that might be an issue.

i swapped all teh temp sensors on to. There isn't much else is there?
I have the AFM and the o2 sensor still as well as the ICV

i basically put the sensors and accessories form the B34 onto the B35. i'll hit a wrecking yard this week and see fi I can dig up an ECU. I have a spare from an e30 i car. I could always retrofit it in i guess.

So much work just to have the newest version of motronic, with still no clear indicator of what the benifits are.......

Check mye28, lots of info on benefits of running 1.3. In a nutshell it just runs and idles better/smoother period.

ok, that is what i needed to hear.
I'll go scour the junk yards in search of a 5 series with 1.3

i just need an ecu and a chip.......
