    Quick bolt question

    Hey guys, I'm pulling the M90 out of my 6er parts car tomorrow and need to go to the hardware store to get 4 bolts to attach the engine to the stand once it's out. Which of these bolts are the actual ones that attach the transmission to the block, as those are the holes used when attaching an engine to a stand, correct? I want to know the correct size/length, or basically what I should look for when I go to the hardware store since I want to have the bolts ready to go and not wait to take one of the removed transmission bolts to compare in-store. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Anyone? I really need to go to the hardware store tomorrow morning before the engine is out so I can minimize the time that my friend with the hoist is here...

      i picked up some M10x120 on mine and spaced them with some 3/8 washers on my M30
      i did the two at the starter and one on each side. it was the only way to get 4 bolts in the motor.

      get stainless or atleast a grade 8 bolt
      that motor is heavy

        Thanks! I had bought some M10 and M8 earlier today, but both only in 100 length, I'm going to go back and return the M8s and see if I can get a longer M10.

          can you report back which bolts and bolt locations you ended up using? Was weaksauce correct?

            FYI stainless alloys have only 60% the strength of carbon steel alloys. A grade 8 bolt will be more than enough to support the static weight of the engine on an engine stand.

                so when i said "get stainless or grade 8" what i was saying was "don't just buy the cheapest shit they make"
                as in, don't grab a zinc non-rated bolt and support your engine with it.

                I think we are both saying the same thing here.

                also, I thought stainless was stronger than grade 5? am I wrong? the tensil strength of the stainless is near the grade 5 bolt from what i've seen.
