    Researching cost, help appriciated...

Looks like my M10 might be beyond saving, and I'm looking for options of replacing it.

Since (IMHO) there is no point in spending 1K or more rebuilding a m10 for a daily driver, I'm looking towards stuffing the M30b35 into the car. That wasn't the original point when I bought it, but it's snowballing quite fast.

If I can aquire a M30 for the bargin price of ~$100 (there are dozens of them in the u pull it yards nearby), would budgeting 1000-1500 be realistic in terms of getting the motor in the car? Keep in mind I'd be changing over from an auto to manual at the same time.

I'm coming up with (and I'm sure I'm missing things).

    $100 motor
$250 misc gaskets, bolts, dizzy cap, wires, painting/cleanup
    $300 transmission
    $300 clutch/flywheel
    $200 ? Driveshaft
$100 manual swap parts (pedals, master, lines)

Mounts will be DIY, wiring I think I can struggle through.

    Thoughts/advice appreciated!

Yes you can get an m30 in there for $1500 assuming you get good deals on the major parts.
Fabbing the mounts yourself will save you a chunk of change.
A tranny from the junkyard should not run you $300.
Wiring is fairly simple. Go through Jeans threads, loads of info for m10-m30 wiring.

I went the junkyard route as well. Be sure the engine does not come from a "clunker" car. You can get most, if not all of your parts from the yard.

The trans is going to be the hardest part to find for me. I have found a M10 manual nearby for super cheap, which might be an option at first....although I'm more the kind of doing it first time/be done with it kinda guy.

The mounts...ahhh the mounts. What a pain in the ass that is going to be. Then again, I'm not going to pay $250-300 for $10 worth of steel when I've got a plasma, TIG, and other fun tools in my home garage..

      Thanks for the input!
