    built 3.3 worth it?

So in a nut shell I have the opportunity to buy a built m30 3,3.The original owner only drove the car 5k after the rebuild before he totalled it 6 yrs ago.Every since the motor has been in storage.

no specific info yet, but this is what I gathered.

    Port & polish
    rebuilt head
    stock internals
    mild schrick cam
    forged rocker arms
    some kind of headers.
    5speed tranny W/ short shifter and a 1.3 motronic.

We haven't worked out the price yet, but I want to know if the 3.3 is worth it built or not, and what should I expect to pay for such an engine.

If I get a good deal on it I might just use it.

Why not? The b32's only had about 15 less hp and tq than a b35 stock.

depends on the details(who did it, which parts were actually used, etc) and price...

If it really is a Shrick cam and forged rockers, I say it is worth at least $1000.

I bet the guy wants $4000 though...fucking BMW assholes.

The engine was built at pro bmw in van nuys, ca. I've seen the work done at that shop. and they're definitely reputable. Hopefully I can score it for ways below 1000 though.

The owner still has pictures, receipts, and other info on the build so ill have to take a look at that. Most likely I'll be able to sneak a peak of the engine next week, but as far as I know it should be very solid.

Probably won't make a ton of power, but it'll still be cool. My "built" motor isn't making much power right now but its still a blast.

Anywhere near 200hp and I'd be happy any day.

Well I picked up some build receipts from the owner. Turns out that tranny was rebuilt with a brand new clutch also, and he has a 3.73 limited slip he'll throw in with the stock cam and exhaust mani.I worked him down to 800$ for everything. Sounds like a good deal to me.so back to the question. Is it worth it?

i say do it, i paid 750 for a m30b35 with a rebuilt head, g265 tranny, long tube headers, harness and chipped ecu. I still need a new clutch though.

I wouldnt mind the 3.3 part of it, and if you want to later you can take out that crank and drop it in a b35 to make I think its a 3.8 like that. The 3.3 has a pretty long stroke.

I'd personally buy it. I spent a shit ton more building my m20, and it won't produce the same amount of power that that 3.3 will.
