    M30 turbo build

I have finally decided after months and months of research and planning to do a turbo project on my m30b35. I don't really see too many of them for our engines aside from on mye28 but those are all on e28's and not e30s.

Would anyone want me to do a write up of it? Even if just one or two people want me too I will, or not if no one is interested.

I'm interested. What is the budget and what kind of power you are aiming for?

Should be the same, e30 or not.
Post updates when you get started. :)

My power goal is to make around 400bhp which will require me to run around 15-16 psig at 44lb/min of corrected air flow.

As for the components, I have not gotten many of them yet because I am still in the collection of components phase but I do have so far:

          MS1 v3.0 extra 029y4 firmware
          6 pin TPS
          oil pressure sender and gauge
          31 lb injectors
          adjustable fuel pressure regulator

My budget will be around 2500 as I am fabricating everything myself which keeps costs suprisingly low.

It sounds like there is some interest in me doing this build thread so I guess I just go for it.

31# injectors might be to small, also since your going to run MS you can eliminate the TPS sensors and run on MAP only.
For turbo selection I would look into a Holset. With your budget of $2500 and doing all the fab work you can make a great turbo setup.
Upgrade your clutch also, the engine will make more torque than HP.

I'll write up the details of mine once it is done. Tuning megasquirt NA now, but have all the parts:

                    M30B35, rebuilt head 50k ago + bearings
                    16cm/8blade HX400
                    Ebay intercooler and piping
                    tial 38mm wastegate
                    Ebay BOV
Stahl flanges for M30 head (and a spare head to mockup my manifold on)
                    Coolingmist Methanol injection kit
                    14point7 NAW wideband
                    NGK plugs 3 ranges colder
JEGs 45kv coils for wasted spark (still need GM baseplate)
                    GM IAT
MS2 v3.57 (will be running custom modified 3.0.3t code with fuzzy logic traction control, and launch control via clutch switch)
M60 throttle body for flipped manifold
Exedy 6 puck clutch kit on 533i lightened flywheel

Will be going groovmatic O-ringed + oversize elring klinger headgasket+ APRs + 284 regrind for "stage 2"

once the low boost build is tuned. If I ever need more power, I'll upgrade compressor to 6blade.

weak. my 318 could take that..... :D
                      should be fun!
what plugs did you get? I grabbed 2 colder for my nitrous build, but i haven't even started the motor up yet. just got the tranny mated to it last night after waiting 3 months for a flywheel

When using the stahl head flanges weld a piece in between the flanges to keep them from moving. Like this

Are you going to do a header, or adapter?

I was planning on just bolting them to my spare head (it's busted beyond repair and I got it for $25)...will that be OK??
