    Air conditioning + m30 swap

Originally this thread started as a "shit, there's no way I can get A/C working in my m30 swap", but after some more hammering/swearing/parts it turns out, you totally can! For those running mounts built by Otis (Good & Tight) you should have plenty of room for the compressor to clear your radiator. You'll have to do some slight modifications to your m30 compressor bracket, but it's very simple. If your A/C is working when you start your swap, don't undo the lines! Leave it all sealed, you'll be able to do the entire motor swap and then bolt the compressor right up :)

pictures of compressor bracket mods on page 2 of this thread, post #24: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...=169097&page=2

Make sure you have your cooling system rigged up to handle the extra load though:

What's the part number on your compressor? I put mine next to the bracket and it looked like it would clear with less than 1/4 of room between it and the radiator hmmm. I'll try mounting in next weekend...

My mounts clear the compressor in position II. Living in south florida you have to have a/c if it's your DD.

Need a Turbo manifold? We have them in stock- Click here---> http://rapidspoolindustries.com/

I'll take a look later today when i get home. It's a very late compressor since my car is a '92.

Well that's good to know, so with position 2 do you need to massage the firewall?

              Thanks

Very little massaging is needed right were the back of the head is.

With the clearence I have behind the head, And your mounts clearing with a bit of massaging, my guess is the compressor will fit on your setup.

Come to think of it, I could just switch my motor mounts. But beating the firewall would involve removing the whole engine/trans again, something I do not want to do.

You could use a pry bar if needed while engines in place, no need to remove the engine.

I would have to remove the insulation from around the bellhousing too, no way the engine will scoot back even another mm with it in place. If I can get access to a lift to drop the subframe, I will seriously consider it.
