SickE30- what 5 speed are you looking for? M30 or M20?

Lashtx- will stop over to the shop in a few hours to check the manifold?

Brian, just kicking around the idea of a cheap brake upgrade over OEM. Any suggestions?

the best cheap upgrade you can do is just upgrade pads and fluid. I bleed brakes after every track event. I am really clueless when it comes to good street pads but I know the Hawk HPS was good, or the HP+ for street autocross. after that the next upgrade is steel lines and 25mm master cylinder from a 7 series. this will give you a nice firm tall pedal. from there you can upgrade to brass fittings in your calipers, but these need to be lubed once a year or so, but do not overlube as it will collect dust. From there you can start looking at a big brake kit.

                      hope that helps.

Yup. I do that already. Good words of advice, though. I was thinking that there was an upgrade using E34 540i calipers. I'll have to do more research.

briansjacobs, does it matter what year I get the master cylinder from when finding the e32 master cylinder. I have an 85 325e with an m30.
