    e30 m60 swap...4.0 engine

so i got a wild hair up my ass and found a 4.0 94 740i engine on craigslist and picked it up with all wirering harness and computer for a good price. currently fixing it up gettign ready to swap it in. or preparing and seeing if possible. i already did the m30 swap and it was not enough power for me. the more i look in to this swap i think what did i get myself in to. im 18 and this will be my secound swap and i think im over my head. i have heard the problems are:

brake booster because m60 is wider. any ideas?

beefing up the frame and suspension. but i have looked in to that and its like 20 more pounds than my m30..m30 are cast iron block alum head. m60 is all alum. any ideas?

    drive shaft not a problem.

    then buy a 6 speed 540 tranny

this is most info on it...http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1366630

I am half way into a m62 swap myself. For a tranny I picked up a 5-speed off a e34 530, the flange is the same size as my large flange E drive shaft. I will soon test fit the engine and tranny in and the only mod I have made so far is to trim back the battery tray and to shave down the steering rack brackets.

I will be making my own engine mounts I am just waiting on my drill press to be delivered. For a brake booster I am thinking of going to manual brakes as I already have a BBK.

For management I am just sucking it up and going standalone, I have a VEMS ready to hook up. Since the m62 is a rear pick up for the crank sensor but the e34 tranny is a front pick up, so solve this I just got a front hub off a OBD1 V8.

The exhaust manifold look they will be a interesting puzzle especially over the steering rack.

Im just spitted out stuff of the top of my head

The weight over a m30 is almost a mute point because it is more set back then a m30
    Anything can be done

You should reinforce the front subframe, i had some cracks in it after 7500km with M30, though my suspension is very stiff so it doesn't make the life easier for it.

Surely you've got to get better / new springs & dampers in there, also brakes would be good to update. My cabrio with M60 weights ~1350kg with full fuel tank, so it's quite light after all.

Yap, the S38 isn't very light... I've lightweight flywheel and no spare wheel so those alone save me around 30kg.. I think the M60 at it's present state is quite near to 200kg, whereas S38 is something like 240kg?

I think the V8 is a better combo for cabrio e30 vs other BMW engines
