The E32/E34 airbox does not fit

All E30s have the same front wheel arch sheet metal in the frame. M30 lateral positioning in swaps is the same to within a very small margin of error - less than 1". To the best of the EPC/ETK's knowledge, there only is one E32/E34 airbox made by BMW, 13711707727, 13711726199 is the one with cyclone / zyklon pre-separator.
It does not fit. Do I have to move the ignition coil to some other place?
Self-answer: yes, but even then it fits very poorly. Back to the drawing board.

    Yep, it's a tight fit.

It's a tight fit, yes, but it works. What position is your motor in? I moved my coil lower on the strut tower and it fits fine

I don't see the problem except for moving the coil. ;/

This site doesn't allow .zip attachments so maybe
contact me on aim. Or go to mye28.com. There's a sticky of trigger settings.

An m20 msq will get you started, just adjust fuel requirements and cranking pw.
Mess with cold start after you get a warm idle and get it driving.

Well, I temporarily removed the coil from there to see how to fit it. You effectively have to have it *in contact* with the exhaust heatshield gasket and coil plug. I am not... entirely sure I like that. My engine has Funk mounts, so position 2... except that a little clearincing of the firewall was needed per the PO, so it's... 2.5ish?

Yep it's too tight of a fit...and the heatshield on it will damage the spark plug wires in time.... I used the box in there to get through CARB...but use something else in the meantime.

I have my coil on my battery tray. We made a plastic bracket that is liek a lazy "S" shape to secure the box to the fender. And some scrap metal on one of the valve cover nuts to keep it from hitting the head.

George - I was going to stick the coil there, but I'd really like the 324td reservoir in that location. I may have to resort to the AC line bolt on the strut tower for the coil.
Jean, yes, I can't get it to clear the wires and the heatshields AND the sound deadening in the hood. The space just is not there. I may give up and get a kamotors intake instead, it works very well in the S52 car...

Can your post pictures of the brackets? I need to install the airbox soon.

                          Does too

You can see the top of my coil in this pic, I think I had it mounted to a hole in the strut tower support. The airbox was just resting there but it never moved. It did slice the #1 ignition wire eventually but I had them run kind of messy anyways.
