    Save my m30

    I am so close to finishing my swap but when i changed the oil pan and pump the chain is super loose and i dont have any idea why its a b34 so it doesn't have a tensioner what do i do?

    Ok, if I can make any sense of your post...

    You've pulled the pan off and noticed that the chain is loose.

    #24 is the tensioner.

    If you don't have one, get one.

    I believe the "slack" in the chain will be taken away once the engine gains oil pressure.

      Ok. is there anyway to tell that my block can except the tensioner before i take the timing cover off? And how much slack do they normally have without?

        Go to realoem, select the year and model of the car the engine came from and look at the diagrams. I bet all M30 engines came with a tensioner.

          Actually i did a little research on e28 forums and pre-86 m30 did not have a tensioner :( so now i have to remove the motor from my car again and fix it
