M30 oil bar modification

Hello.
Just did this today and thought it would be a good share for people that
are interested.

The rail sprays oil onto the rockers/cam,
supplied from those two banjo bolts holding it down.

What people do is crimp the center so each feed uses 3 spray holes,
thus keeping everything closer to equal. The problem is on a stock rail is the front part gets less oil than the rear.

Metric mechanic does this so why not.

Also get 4 new aluminum crash and loctite those bolts. First time I opened up the vc the front bolt
was rattling around in an oildrain, no washers either.
Today it was alittle lose, so check those out and loctite them down!

I don't believe there is one unless you over-crimp it and create a crack in the process.

What did you use to crimp it? It would be a good time to do it since it's out of the car.

I did this while it was still on the car. Squeezed carefully with a pair of pliers.

Others have done it out of the car using two pieces of pipe (one on each side of the hollow bar) and squeezing in a vice.

Does this particular modification quiet down valve train noise?

I was under the valve cover last week to loctite the banjo bolts in but never knew about this idea.

Probably not. Unless the noise is your cam grinding on your rockers. :0
Try adjusting the valves to 0.008'' at the cam.

No more clack clack clack. That's an m20 thing ;)
