I have been searching, and searching, and searching, and well, there's not a whole lot of information on the swap into an early 318i. My m10 took a dump, have my eye on a dirt cheap '86 e28 with a manual (tranny is toast) and need something to get my car back on the road fairly quick. I know the m10 trans hooks up, but does the driveshaft work too? Or am I still going to need an ETA driveshaft? Also, the wiring on the early 318i is different than pretty much all other models from what I have read. Can anyone point me in the direction to that part? (was looking for wiring diagrams and such and found some dead links, and lost the links that had working pictures). I know that I need an e34 oil pan and pickup, as well as needing to tap a line for my brake booster into the intake manifold. I know that pretty much most everything for the swap is the same as 325i swap, but other than wiring, is there anything else that I need to look out for? (I know the m10 trans is not ideal, but I have it already and need to do this with as much resources as I already have)

There's a write-up that's sold on here, a couple links down the page, that's pretty good, has wire diagrams and pretty good detail. I'm in the process of doing the same swap and I'm just gonna be using the front half of the e28 driveshaft. If I remember right, you should beable to use the same driveshaft since your using your tranny, but I also heard you need a 320i driveshaft, so don't quote me on that.
Are you gonna be making your mounts or buying them?

The swap is in detail for putting a m30b35 into a 325i chassis. So I would still have to search for all the wiring anyways since the b34 and b35 are different, and my 318i is different than a 325i chassis. The wiring is what I am most concerned with. I would be buying the mounts. As for using a 320i driveshaft, I don't think that I will be importing one from Europe, doesn't seem logical for a budget minded swap.
