    Clutch/flywheel questions

Ok this may seem like a stupid question, but I'm in a hurry and need a quick reference, so my apologies if this has be covered.
I've got a 262 (5 sp 265) out of a 1983 633 and want to use an m5 clutch/flywheel setup with my m30b35, so I should be using them from the e28, correct?

    Thanks guys,

    -Danny

I'm pretty sure you're correct on that one, but someone may chime in with experience.

I have an e28 M5 clutch and flywheel on my B35 w/G260/6 trans.

        Only one that WON'T take a M5 fw/clutch is the G260/5, IIRC. It's also a POS trans.

        You should be fine.

262 is the 4sp dogleg trans. 5sp dogleg is the 265/5.

your question doesnt make sense to me. A 262 is a 4 speed and a 265 is a 5 speed. What are you trying to do?

              262 and 265/5 are both dogleg. 265/5 just has a 1:1 ratio 5th.

A 262 is also an early 4 speed like out of a coupe or bavaria. Removable bellhousing 4 speed.

                  it's a two piece 5sp marked 262, which means that it's a 265 with the 262 bellhousing. It's not a dogleg just an overdrive.

the gearbox with 262 stamped on it is actualy a 265. The front section cast (with 262 on it) is used on the actual 262 (4spd) but also with the 265/5 and 6 but with an extra section for the 5th gear.

                      Quoted from somebody on bimmerforums.

But yes, I'm looking to use the m5 clutch/fly wheel and you guys have answered my question about it.

E24 and E28 Tranny's are all interchangeable. On my m30b35 swap, I used a 265/5 trans. with a 533I flywheel and clutch. Much lighter than any other stock m30 flywheel. I think its like 14ibs. Motor revved up really nice with it.
