m30 86 535i 5 speed rare?

is a 5 speed tranny from an 86 535i rare? i saw one at the JY today, and i was wondering if it was rare, ide like to get it if it is. i work mon-friday 7-4 so this sunday will by my only chance before its gone most likely.

I don't think it is, most likely a g260/5 but take a look.

If it's an '86 and this reference is correct it should be a 260/6. Look for long fins on the bottom of the trans running from front to back, that's a /6.

I got my /6 from an e28.

260/5 was used on '83-'84 6/7/533i. It's a shitbox.

260/6 is what replaced it when BMW realized the /5 was a shitbox. Thus the /6 ran from '85 to '88 in e28s.

Yes, but that will not bolt up to the M30. The 265 will, but you need the M30 bell housing. I don't really count it as a direct bolt on.

They might be different lengths too- what out for that and plan your drive shaft length accordingly.
