    m30 suddenly running extremly cool

i have an m30b35 swapped 91 325is, and it usually runs at the last white mark on the temp gauge and a lot of time it will creep past the mark so i turn the heater on and eventually it cools down to the middle mark on the gauge.
well yesterday i was driving it and my coolant check light can on, (level was/is good), and now the car runs extremely cool, between the blue mark and the half way mark on the gauge. i pulled into the closet gas station and shut the car down to check the coolant, level was good, there was no smoke, nor leaks. so i started her back up and kept on driving, and the coolant check light went off and has not come back on.

any ideas on what could have caused this?

    thanks,
    Matt

Hey I am also in Dallas (Allen) and if you ever want to get together and shoot the bull, let me Know. My conversion has been done for bout 2 months.

Mine runs between just under half and to just above half. My guess is that your thermostat is not regulating properly.

Or you have a gauge issue. I found that when the M42 was still in, the nut on the back of the coolant gauge was not making a good connection to the circuit board on the gauge pod. It was causing all kinds of erratic behavior.

Lets go grab lunch a take the cars for a drive sometime.

Maybe your thermostat is stuck open.
