    m30 questions

    For anyone with the distributor cap plastic cover that covers the wires where they meet the distributor cap, does it touch your radiator? My car has joe funk mounts and it touches the radiator.

    There are only 3 bolts bolted on the motor mounts out of 4 holes. Is this bad or is it OK? The engine has polyurethane mount bushings.

      Man that's pretty far up, mine is at least an inch further back, my cover is broken though

        ^ Lookin good , JB. OP you can remove the cover if it is interfering , it is not necessary.

          I have to remove the cover because it does hit my e28 radiator. Im using the funk poly mounts and I too only have 3 of the 4 bolts and its fine.

            I have had my car running a few days now. I don't have the wire cover installed because when I did it was too much of a hassle to get it around the wires and by my turbo. I used Qbangs mounts with AKG poly motor and trans mount bushings.

            Assuming the turbo wasen't in the way I think I could get it in there, but it would be tight. Like maybe 1/8-1/4 inch from the radiator. I am using Qbangs mounts in the front hole.

            I also tapped the block so I could use all 4 bolt holes for the motor mount. I think the motor originally only used like 2 maybe 3 holes(on the right side opposite the oil dipstick tube) but I also had the motor on an engine stand so it wasen't that big of a deal for me to make some threads in a hole that was already there just not used.

            P.S. My engine bay looks like SHIT compared to Jb325is'. I wouldn't mind snagging a cover for the injector wiring :/ Oh well.
            89 325i: 86 535i motor+trans, JE forged pistons, MLS head gasket, ARP head studs, Comp turbo, GoodNTight b34 turbo manifold, e30.de motor mounts, AKG 75D engine/trans mounts, custom 3" exhaust, intercooler, MS2PNP, Megan Racing Coilovers.

              Finally got around to uploading some pics...






              I was thinking it might have to do more with the mounting location of the radiator but mine looks to be in the same place as Jb325is.

              Does yours really look farther back from these pictures? What mounts are you using? Do you have a pic with the plastic cover on for a better comparison to mine?

                Make sure your engine/tranny mounts or good or that cover/distributor will kiss the rad under hard braking or of that sort.

                  The engine and tranny mounts are polyurethane and less than 2 years old.

                    Mine is 6 1/4" from the lip on the core support to the top bolt on the thermostat housing (the one on the drivers side of the bleeder)

                    I have Otis's mounts, back position, firewall smacked up a bit
