M30 interference engine?

I found one with a broken timing chain, guy says valve(s) is fubar'd but... is the M30 an interference engine at all or is the broken valve an assumption on his part?

Valves will bend hitting the piston, even at a cruising rpm.

lol broke a rocker and half my valves when my m20s belt broke at idle. just rebuild the head

yes it's an interference engine. Vales WILL be bent if the chain broke.

Thanks for the info, guys. Turns out though that the 535 part was a typo and the car is only a 525i M20 so no cheap M30 for me this time.
