    m30b34 question

I'm trying to get an idea of what my car will feel like power wise with a b34 in. Basically compared to other some other in the same weight/power category. E36 325 328, mk3 vr6, s13 sr20, etc..... Kinda of a dumb question

have you driven all of those?

its a low slow revving monster. it pulls hard whenever you want it. Its not the fastest thing in the world but when you hit it it feels like you could pull a freight train...

That's why you get the M5 flywheel and yes it pulls!!!

If you can get your hands on a b35 that will be a huge upgrade right there vs b34
and plus it'll have the right oil setup and block off plate in the back so you can just slide it in.

I driven all the cars i listed, I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. I'm using a b34 because I crashed my old drift car, an 85 635csi and I have all the stuff to do the swap besides the motor mounts and a few other things

Also is a 4.10 diff too high for an m30 b34 swap? And where can I get some good engine mounts from?

              so you have driven a b34 635?

its a lot like that just lighter and much more nimble. it pulls harder cause its lighter. i dont really know how else to explain it...

talk to otis (good&tight) for the mounts and a 4.10 is to much. a 3.25 or 3.73 will be best.

                2.93 does 80 in second and 115 in 3rd ;)

                  Otis only does B35 mounts.

                  Qbang makes B34 mounts.

OP, just imagine 3 medium build adults getting out of your 6 and that will be close. I would not do a 4.10 cause B34 strength is broad torque band. That being said , gear will depend of how you intend to use it.

the car its going into is my new drift car, so im not worried about top speed or cruising rpms. i want to be able to spin as much of 3rd as possible(for 3rd gear drift entries), in my e24 with the 4.10 i could only spin 3rd for a short while then i would have to drop to second. im going to assume that i could do this no problem with an m30 and a 4.10 in an e30

thanks for the heads up on the engine mounts

^ You are correct, E30 M30 should be much more tail happy than E24 M30.
